I am just wondering what everyone thinks about the new grading program. Do you like it? Will you use it? What don't you like about it?
Personally, the grading program is stressful for me. Often times your work is graded and in my hard copy gradebook but I don't enter the assignment into the computer until every person has turned in the assignment, which usually means I only update a few times a quarter.
Do you think this is something that your parents would like?

As part of my "Summer of doing things for me" I have decided to review my readings. As you can see below I am part of the summer reading challenge. The first book that I read was a classic book by Jodi Picoult My Sister's Keeper. I would have to say that this was one of the best books by Picoult that I have read. I really do enjoy her style of writing, where she writes from multiple character's perspectives, but she did an extraordinary job in this novel. Her character work was outstanding. I particularly enjoyed her character work with the older brother Jessie. She made him such an interesting character and a great addition to the main story line. I think I connected to this because I see everyday how student react to the various situations in their life. I also loved the ending. I of course won't give that away here, but it was a classic twist Picoult ending.

I think that the new grading program is a good idea for students and parents. I like it because I can access and look at my grades at any time and see where I am at. The new program is also helpful because we can check our attendence at any time which is an important part to passing classes. So far I have used the program a few times and parents would definitely like the program because they could just log in and check their children's grades fast and easy,at any time. Another thing that I like and that parents would like is being able to see all the assignments listed and seeing exactly what grade you recieved. Also the new program makes it easier to look at individual assignments and check for any grading errors that teachers might make which influence a student's overall grade. (I don't want to sound rude but EVERYONE makes mistakes). So I think that the new grading program is a great and effective idea.
I like the new grading program because I can check my grades. It allows me to keep track of my progress and see which classes I may need to try harder in. However, I am not the one actually putting in the grades. Therefore, I can understand why teachers may not like it because I have heard some of them say it is confusing. But I do use it often, especially during the end of the marking period. I like it in general.
the new grading system? your talking about powerschool right? i like it. i like the idea of how i can go home and look at my grade in each of my classes. and i know how many absences i have before its too late. i think its so nice to look on powerschool rather then bug my teachers for it. And it shows all my zeros that i got on homework so i can ask if i can hand it in late... basiclly powerschool it has everything i need to succeed ;)
I think the new grading program is beneficial to students but only if the teachers update it often. It is a chance for students to see how good or bad they are doing and it gives them a "heads up" before report cards get sent home. i can't speak for all students but i definitely check powerschool atleast once a week to make sure that i am doing a good job!
Personally, I like the new grading system a lot. I like to monitor my grades and find myself having to stay after to check up on my grades. With power school, I can check them at home at my own convenience and if I was absent and missed an assignment I can look to see what it was. I know a lot of my friends have been going on it a lot already because anyone who cares about their grades will use it to try and maintain higher grades. It probably sucks for teachers now but I think in the long run it will work out because come grade time teachers will not have to rush to get al grades on the computer they can just start using this program and immediately enter grades to the computer.
I really enjoy the new grading program because it lets me check my grades and i dont have to wait for teachers to pass out grading sheets. I like being able to see what im missing and what grades i got on all my assignments.
I think the grading program is beneficial to students because it allows students to see if they are failing any classes. I know that it is the students responibility to know if they are doing bad in a class, but most kids don't find the time to go to their teacher and see what work they are missing. The grading prgram is quick, eay, and all students can access it.

personally i like the new system. i feel it is an easy way for students to follow up on there work and keep track of there grades. teachers are not being asked "what work am i missing?". however i feel it can also be stressfull on the teachers to. they are used to doing the grades at thier own time. now they have to take more time out of all the other work to type in the grades, so students can check there grades.
I like the idea of the new grading system but i looked at it once and then that was it. I can wait until teachers show the grades during school because i don't normally remember what was on that test or why I would have gotten the grade that i did. I feel that we have gotten through all of these years without this program, so it doesn't seem all that necessary to me.
I believe that the grading system is good because it gives students acess to view their grades from any computer. I know this helps me out so that i can see where i stand and what i need to work on. Its also easier so i can check if i handed in all of the assignments because most teachers dont tell you when you are missing work. Also as a senior, i like to be able to check my number grade so i can calculate whether or not i will be exempt.
I love the new grading program. It allows me to always know whats going on with my grades. I enjoy knowing at all times how i am doing in school. I know it maybe stressful for the teachers. But its better for us and our parents to know whats going on at all times.
I love the program. I love being up to date with my grades. I also like having a record of what assignments I did and what I got on them. I've also found some errors in grading and it helped my grade. I love knowing where I am at and how good or bad I'm doing. I think this system is genius due to the huge role technology is now playing in our school lives.
i honsetly dont care if my grades are availible online. i think that we should use a proven program that the teachers like. the teachers are the ones who actualy use them so they should pick
I think the new grading program is a great idea.Checking my grades made it easier to keep my grades high and to keep myself grounded at the end of the year.
I wish they introduced this program to us last year.
I like the new grading program but i am not one of those people to look at my grades everyday. I look at my grades a few times to make sure i am caught up with everything, but overall i dont care too much. It is a better grading program because students can look at their grades and know if they are passing their classes and will be able to be exempt or to graduate.
i love the new grading program. its great to be able to check on my grades and know where im at even when its not time for a report card. i like seeing how difforent assignment affect my grade and what i need to do to boost my grade, or which classes not to worry about.
I think the new grading program is good for students and parents. It lets students know how there grades look without having to wait for progress reports and gives your parents an extra eye over you. Thats why you shouldn't tell them. lol.....seriously
I think that the new grading program is a very good thing for our students in highschool. For kids and students that are able to check their grades and attendence i believe that it is going to show improvement in many students acedemic efforts. Although if teachers are not able to update grades all the time it wont be a problem. Parents and students are used to seeing their grades every marking term or quarter. So if a teacher is not able update the grades then parents and students shouldent complain.
I like the new grading program because before if you asked a teacher to see your grades they say "well all i have is the numbers, they're not added up" now i can just log in and see my grade it is very helpful. The only problem is when teachers take a long time to update them.
I love the new grading program! Before this program when i would recieve my grade i would always be wondering what i was missing and the grades i got to get my where i was. With the new grading program i am able to look at my grades as soon as there completed and am able to make up work before its too late. I also am able to see where i am at and if im in danger. Being a senior i am always shooting for exemption so beign able to look up and see the progress of my grades was great. I think its also a good idea for parents because they will be able to to check up on their kids before its too late. They can make their kids study more if loss test grades are the problem or they can have their kids do their homework if thats the case.
I like and i dislike the new program. i like that i can go see my grades and i can check all my assignments. i dont like that if i were to get a bad grade my parents would start buging me about it.
I think my parents would love to be able to check my grades from their computer although that may make them more "on my case" so overal it is a good thing.
i think the new grading systems is great for students and parents because if parents were interested in knowing their child's grade they could just hope online and look. Unfortunetly my mother doesn't have to do that because i share with her my grades every semester. I would think that this grading system would be easier on you because its less effort you have to put into finding out students grades for them so your less bothered. but i can see where your coming from with all the grades not being put in because sometimes it can make your grade really low if you have work to make up.
Im not worrying about the grading program! i only have a week left of school wooooo!!!!!! but i do think it is good. i like how you can see your grades whenever you want. it makes everything so much easier. but i don't see why this blog is still up for seniors because it really doesn't effect us. same with the extended homerooms for what we should change for next year. i mean maybe some seniors might want to have a say because they have brothers or sisters, but i mean, im not going to be here for that change whatever it might be. my change for next year, i wanted a mascot! that would be cool. that would definitely pump up the Cherokee nation!
My parents seemed to be excited about it so that they could track me a little bit better as this 4th quarter spun around... and i suppose i like it because it has helped me to know exactly where i think that i stand so far as passing my classes and graduating. I think that its also got a good design for ease of access and ability to find exactly what your looking for easily...
i really like the new grading program and that it allows us to access our grades online anytime, its really helpful with seeing what things youve missed and just being able to try harder by always being able to see your grade and your progess.
so far from what i can tell i like the new grading program because i know what work that i have missed didnt do or got a good grade on.however i think that it is alot of un needed stressful work for the teacher. my parents are loving this program right now because they can moniter how i am doing in school. that also causes a problem for me though because if i thought i didnt have homework when i realy did and they go on and see i got a zero well it doesn't end good for any child.it also helps me know how maney more days of school i can miss before i loose credit.
I think that the new grading system is something that parents like the most. I mean they all get to see our grades and comments our absent's and our tardies from the comfort of home ro work. This is also good for the student who wants to check his grade once ina while.
